DescriptionGreen represents mountains and fertility. White is for the Iman of Oman, and for peace. The red field is a color commonly used in the Gulf States. The emblem shown in the canton is that of the ruling dynasty.

HistoryUntil 1970, Oman used plain red banners of the indigenous people. In 1970, a completely new set of national flags were introduced by the Sultan. Added to the fly were bands of green and white. The emblem, the badge of the Albusaidi swords over a gambia, which is a traditional curved dagger.
